The Harry Belafonte Best Song for Social Change Award
AMANDA ABIZAID
“PEACE WAR”
Produced by Narada Michael Walden
Amanda Abizaid is driven by a singular ambition— to foster peace and connection through the universal language of song. An award-winning singer and songwriter, Abizaid has a unique sound described "indie-pop meets global crossover" , often woven with the spellbinding melodies of her Lebanese heritage.
Born in Beirut, Abizaid’s early years were marked by the striking duality of Mediterranean beauty and the harrowing realities of the Lebanese Civil War. Her lyrics navigate heart-wrenching subjects carried by irresistible grooves, and joyous melodies centered around her incandescent voice— a dynamic instrument that Amanda has dedicated to fostering social change.
Abizaid’s breakthrough was “A Place In Time” — the Emmy-winning theme for Paramount’s sci-fi hit The 4400. Amanda was inducted into the Indie Music Hall of Fame for a career dedicated to service that now spans seven albums and three Eps, and includes performances at Times Square, New York 24th Annual UN International Day of Peace Event, UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion, Jackie Robinson Stadium, concerts with the American Victory Orchestra, the Los Angeles Metropolitan Master Chorale, and recordings with Stephen Stills.
Her new single, “Peace War”, is a powerful call for social change for upcoming bilingual Arabic and English album produced by Narada Michael Walden. Abizaid has dedicated “Peace War” and upcoming album to children of war around the world.
“Being Lebanese American, a child of war and having a near-fatal accident at 18 years old, I’ve dedicated my life to healing others through my songs and hope to help end generational trauma for all children of war around the world.” - Amanda Abizaid
