Produced by Grammy-winning producer Narada Michael Walden – the legendary architect behind multi-platinum hits for Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey – "Peace War" blends a vibrant, driving Latin pop groove with an urgent call for global harmony. For Abizaid, known for her Emmy-winning theme song "A Place in Time" from Paramount’s hit sci-fiseries The 4400, the track represents a profound personal and artistic evolution. First conceived during a period of deep sorrow and anger regarding ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the song underwent a drastic transformation. "I was very angry about the conflict and the children dying, and it was painful, " Abizaid reflects. "But I listened back and realized I needed to turn this around. I needed to stop being angry and get to a place of love so I could share that with others. I reversed the lyrics line-by-line, shifting from negative anger to positive thinking." Originally titled "Money War," the reimagined "Peace War" features an infectious musical buffet of rich rhythms, striking horns and an epic vocal performance. With her commanding soprano, she sings, “Don’t you know it’s popular to love and understand/when peace becomes the master plan/chances are we can turn it around/come together for the love of the land/peace war peace war peace war wow, is here to stay.” Abizaid credits Walden (who produced the album, as well) with taking her out of her comfort zone vocally, pushing her to trade her traditionally laid-back, jazz influenced style for a more forceful, right-on-the-beat delivery. "I’m so over the moon about working with Narada," she says. "I grew up singing so many of the songs he’s produced, so it was remarkable to be in the same room with him. Because he’s a brilliant musician himself, he knows how artists feel and respond. He brought out the best in me, and I’m so thankful. And to think that I sang on the same microphone that Aretha Franklin used – what an incredible experience!" Born in Beirut, Abizaid’s early years were shaped by the stark contrast of Mediterranean beauty and the harrowing realities of the Lebanese Civil War. Having survived a near-fatal accident atage 18 and later pivoting from a high-fashion modeling career that included an invitation to work for Chanel, she dedicated her life to healing others through song.
